Flash forward: a woman's notes to herself

I often wish that I could have a "flash forward."  I don't want to know every detail, but maybe just a glimpse into my future to see where I'll eventually be.  Not only would I like to know that everything will work out ok, but I'm also just nosey and impatient.  I want to know what will happen and I hate surprises.  I also hate expending energy into areas that have no point...it's a waste of time.  If I know what will happen, I will know what area to spend my energy in where it will pay off.  I know, every area has a purpose, it all works together to build who you are, etc etc.  Right now, after crawling through the trenches in the past few weeks, all I'm hearing with that "wisdom" is a lot of "blah blah blah blah blah."

Anyways, I was reading today through some of my old notes.  See, I'm always jotting things down...in notebooks, scrap paper, backs of receipts, word documents, etc.  It can be a quote I heard, a dream I had or just random thoughts that I have.  I often read back through them and get inspired to write, create or just evolve in life.  It's all food for thought.

Tonight I found some old notes...from 2005 actually.  I don't know if I was merely going through a lot of similar feelings back then, or if I was actually having some kind of flash-forward to where I am now, but some of the things I wrote down really got me where I needed it tonight.  There were Bible verses, quotes, thoughts & insights and even song lyrics.  Here's just a sampling of what my soul needed tonight.

"When you're somewhere you shouldn't be, it sucks the energy out of your spirit and doesn't bear any fruit."

"The ouch always comes before the hallelujah."

"Would you catch me if I fall out of what I fell in?
Don't be surprised if I collapse down at your feet again."
~Somewhere in Between by Lifehouse (which I put down below for you to listen to)

"I'm aloud to bitch about the journey at the same time I'm continuing on and not giving up."

"That wasn't my finest hour, but that doesn't mean that's who I am."

"Pain isn't a sign that you can't go on, it's a sign that change is happening."

"When you feel like giving up, remember why you held on
so long in the first place."

"All life is just a progression toward, and then a recession from, one phrase--I love you."
~F. Scott Fitzgerald

"The worst thing a guy can do is make a girl fall for her with no intentions of catching her."

"The truth will set you free, but first it will make you miserable."
~James A. Garfield

"And that's the thing about people who mean everything they say.  They think everyone else does too."
~Khaled Hosseini

"You don't always have to hold your head higher than your heart."

"There are all sorts of things that are going to interrupt that dream that you've had of how your life is going to go.  The key will be how easily you accept that you have to find a new normal."

"I stay strong and strive to keep their minds at ease because I don't ever want them to give up their childhoods in order to step into the role of a parent who takes care of me."

"God doesn't give you the people you WANT.  He gives you the people you NEED."  To help you, to hurt you, to leave you, to love you and to make you into that person you
were meant to be."

"It's not about how nice your phone is, it's who texts you."
(boy isn't THIS true right now)

"Let go of your fear of failure--you're GOING to fail."

Psalm 4:4 "Stand in awe and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed and be still. Selah"

"Go with what God puts on your heart & in your gut...it's when you start thinking too much about it that you get into trouble.  Keep your mind out of God's business."
