It's growing!....

My hair is finally starting to grow out a little bit.
It has taken forever, but it is happening.
Little by little.
Now, knowing me, it will be time to chop it off again. ;)

lurve you, xoxo v.

The Great Gatsby....

I just downloaded this album after listening to it on Youtube on a loop.  I thought I would be able to go and pick off some of my favorite songs, but unfortunately, most of the songs are for sale "album only".  So, I had to buy the whole album.  That's okay though because overall, this soundtrack is full of sick, sexy-ass music.  Seriously.  Artistic, dark, sexy adaptations of various covers, plus several new songs. And many of them have a vibe from the Gatsby era, which thrills me, because as I've said before, I've always felt like I should have lived from the 20's - the 40's (longer, of course, but that was "my" time).  That era is so sexy to me.  This movie and this soundtrack captures some of that.  I love it.

"Back to Black"
Beyonce & Andre 3000

(I never thought I would like a version
other than the one performed by the
late, great Amy Winehouse,
but I LOVE this!)

"A Little Party Never Killed Nobody"

"Bang Bang"

"Crazy In Love"
Emeli Sande
"Over the Love"
Florence & the Machine
There is so much music... so many kinds for every taste, I believe.  Darker, heavier, lighter, etc.  These are just some of my favorites.  You should check it out.

Four years ago today....

I boarded a plane,
and had the courage to find a new life.

Suz Broughton from Alive in Wonderland had sent me the picture
I have framed above.
She'd had it on her blog,
with the words,

"Hope is a Road,
Hope is a choice,
Hope is a small town in Arizona."

That picture is what convinced me to make the leap
and be brave enough to make the move.

When Suz heard about this,
she asked if she could send me a copy of the picture.
I immediately framed it,
and it was one of the few belongings that made the initial
trip with me to Phoenix that June first in my suitcase.
It remains one of my most treasures possessions.

Life has certainly not been perfect since the move,
but the hope of a new life is still bright before my eyes.
I'm grateful for my new life.
I know that I will never go back to the kind of life
I knew before moving here.
And I will always know that not only is hope a choice,
But hope is a small town in Arizona.
