Tomato cage Christmas tree...

We just fit our big Christmas tree in the front room anymore,
so I needed to come up with something to fit up there and
make it look Christmasy.

Mine turned out slightly lumpy because I was in a hurry,
but it just looks more charming this way. ;)

I saw on Pinterest that people are making little trees
(for the front porch or indoors)
out of tomato cages,
so I figured this sounds perfect.

So, you start off with any regular tomato cage that you can
pick up in the garden section.

Turn it upside down and tape the prongs together to make a point.

Next, you take some pine garland and wrap it around the whole length of it.

I will say that it took A LOT more garland than anyone on Pinterest claimed it did!

Every post I saw made it sound as if it took 1-2 garlands and 100 lights.
Umm, no.

See that little section at the bottom that is covered up?  That is nearly two garlands.
So, buy several is all I have to say.  Same goes for the lights.

Once it was covered up with the plain garland,
I also went back over it with a more rustic looking garland
(but I didn't wrap it as tightly; just kind of spread it over the whole thing)
that has little branches sticking off.
I think this made it look more authentic (and cute).

Then I covered with some clear lights and decorated it.

Easy peasy.

Fall is in the air...

The picture looks like lemons, but they are actually oranges,
along with cranberries,
cinnamon sticks, nutmeg, allspice, and cloves.

This made the house smell so good!

Tomato Basil Chicken...

Oh man!
This was SO good!

I could have seared the chicken a little better,
but it was still very flavorful.

I found the recipe on Pinterest,
and you can check it out here.

Definitely a keeper.

Chicken asparagus penne...

Yummm... I love asparagus!

This recipe was super simple.

Steam some asparagus and lay it in the bottom of a pan/baking dish.
Brown some chicken breast and place on top of the asparagus.
Boil some penne and place over all of it.
Drizzle with olive oil, salt and pepper.
Sprinkle with shredded Parmesan and broil for about five minutes.

Sausage, potato & spinach soup...

This may be one of my favorite meals I've ever made!
So flavorful and good.

I served it with some crusty bread and ate until I felt I would pop!

Really amazing. It's a keeper.

Oil pulling...

The girls and I have been oil-pulling for the past several days.

It's really gross, lol.

But, there are supposedly so many health benefits to oil - pulling

(Google it!)

A stitch in time...

Have you ever looked back at an old picture and thought,
"Oh! I forgot we had that!" Or, "Oh, that's right..."

Well, this morning as I was waiting to go to church,
The above is what I saw.

I thought, that is a perfect little vignette of my life at this moment in time.
I should capture this.
Why?
So that maybe in the future si will have one of those "Oh!" Moments.
Or, so that long after I'm gone, and someone is trying to explain to my great-grandkids
what a cell phone was,
they can look at a picture like this and see how we used to carry them
and what our jewelry looked like, etc.

It's about history
Passing things down.
Looking back and remembering.

I am a huge history buff.
Particularly personal or family history.
Family trees.
I love it.
All of the pictures we have now,
Someone in the past thought it was a dumb picture to keep.
Not me.
I love reflective moments.
Little stitches in time.
